Redware and Stoneware Bird Houses

Larry and Rose share a passion for American folk art, especially primitives and pottery, which continues to influence their work. Both graduated as Art Majors and are fortunate that they have both been able to make a living as full-time artists. Rose and Larry have been creating and decorating pottery for more than 20 years, creating only hand-thrown or hand-built unique pieces.

They reside in Southern Lancaster County, in Eden Township, just outside the quaint town of Quarryville. Their log home is surrounded by woods filled with birds and other wildlife which provide ample inspiration for their work.

While Larry enjoys throwing clay and hand-building birds and other animals upon many of the pieces, he also employs the technical skills required to mix and create the majority of the Studios glazes. Some of those glazes utilize the ash from their wood stove they use to heat their log home. None of the glazes contain lead. Rose, who’s decorating skills bring a special flare to their work, also enjoys handbuilding and creating redware jewelry and ornaments.

After more than 34 years service, Larry left Armstrong World Industries, Inc. where he had been the Advertising Design Manager, to pursue personal business interests – Albright Pottery Studio and Albright Design Studio (an Advertising Design Studio specializing in print and web site design - like this one).
