John Hults - Custom Folk Frames previous | next artist
John and Pam have been married for thirty years and have developed a truly great personal relationship and business partnership. John retired early from the corporate world and joined Pam with running their retail business, Shops of Maple Croft, as well as growing their folk art business with their original folk paper cuttings and frames.
John, adept at creating unusual shapes, sizes and textures, has constructed frames for Pam's papercuttings for many years. He also does the faux graining in various traditional styles. With a painted base coat of red, green, mustard or black, John applies faux graining in techniques varying from combing to sponging. He also frames the artwork and prepares it for sale. John has expanded the product line by making small boxes and wall cabinets that typically will include one of Pam's paper cuttings. He is also working on the lathe turning small jars that are painted in various folk art styles by Pam.
A hybrid of styles and a blending together of effort has proven to be a successful formula for these Lancaster County artists. An owner of a P. J. Rankin Hults art piece will typically have more than one adorning their home, and it is assured that as time goes on, more and more homes will have the pleasure of her talent providing the classic look they will enjoy for generations.
